Key Text: Mt. 2:13-23
Supporting Text: Prov. 17:22
I. Introduction: Sometimes after the Holidays we feel sad about having to return to normal life. Three principals, when applied meaningfully, can help us start the new year with a fresh commitment to the Lord.
II. Discussion: Trusting God, caring for loved ones, and remembering those for whom Jesus died are three ways to accomplish this objective.
A.) Trust God. Mary and Joseph trusted God, and in doing so demonstrated faith and integrity.
Abraham did this, as well. See also Prov. 4:26-27; 8:17; 16:3
B. Care for Loved Ones. Mary and Joseph cared for each other and for Jesus by going to Egypt. See Prov. 25:21.
C. Remember Those for Whom Christ Died. Jesus died for everyone, Jn. 3:16. Incorporating this mission into our lives will help us live vibrant spiritual lives for Him. See Mt. 28:19-20.
III. Conclusion: Trusting God, caring for those we love and remembering those for whom Christ died will help us continue to have the Christmas spirit at all times. Only in doing so can we meaningfully honor the Lord and have a purpose-driven life.
